Consort (crown and other)

I have been consort to 4 heavy fighters almost continuously from 2008 to current (one of which reached the Crown finals).  I take this role very seriously and consider my role to be inspiring, holding accountable and assisting to support my consort's physical and mental wellbeing.  I find this role very rewarding.  I also enjoy the pageantry that surrounds the consort relationship.  My applications have always been acceptable to the crown lists as a consort - and I've participated in this manner in 11 crown tournaments.

Head of wardrobe for Baroness Tova and Baron Rufus - 2017 - 2019 (Late 1400 - early 1600 German some Noble, some Landsknecht), consult, concept, collaboration with stakeholders, design, patterning, hand and machine sewing.

- teaching period rounds (including the Lant Roll Rounds)

- assisted Lady Grete with a hands on German flat hat making class (twice)

- ran a class showing what I’d learned from my Electress Sybille of Saxony dress (my research hypothesised and showed to work a new fastening method based off some stitching left visible on an extant garment)

- I've lost count of how many times I've picked up a needle, thread, rosemary, wire, or jewellery findings in assistance of someone that needed to get their own task done (be it a steward, rose, crown,  or member of the populace).  Tassels, wreathes, lucet, hand sewing, machine sewing, tabards, hats, garments, hemming, eyelets, rings, earrings, necklaces, snoods to name a few.

- Judging A&S competitions - multiple instances

- Assist with ceremonies for multiple peerages

Biggest Learnings

- Concealed eyelet strips based on an extant garment with unexplained fastening and evidence of stitches only.  Write up to follow.

- Need for visibility of research to pass on the knowledge

- I get joy from assisting others - but have a terrible memory of doing it :p

Hi All, I submitted this into the St Florian De La Riviere Baronial Arts and Sciences competition held September 2013.  A very fast doco, but served the purpose.     15 th Century Writing Slope Collaborative effort of Earl Sir Edmund of Shotley and Lady Iglesia Delamere Multiple portraits inspired this project including all those shown in this article.   Our aim was not to construct a writing slope using period techniques, but to construct a writing slope that had the appearance of the writing slopes of the period and could have been used in period.   It was also important for it too look presentable, as it was going to mostly be a show piece (for demo’s etc).   Finished look was more important than period techniques in construction.   Brief Research and Design Choices From looking at the portraits and research of others I tend to agree that writing slopes in the form we have built probably did not exist until later in the...

Lady Iglesia Delamere Camino del Nobles Journey May 2016 to April 2017 Prowess Definition The definition I have chosen for prowess is great ability or skill.   The word prowess comes from the Middle English prouesse, with its first known use in the 13 th century. 1 (merriam-webster.com, 2017) Achieving Silhouette, Singing, Instructing and Some Spooning My personal prowess journey this year has consisted of 3 parts, to me prowess is a journey not a destination – it’s about striving to be the best you can be- My journey into 1500 German fashion, and specifically undergarments to better support the form I wish to achieve (from the portraits). Further honing/learning more period part singing, with a small group, 1-2 times a month.
